1. About Attic Archive

Attic Archive is a service for preserving and sharing historical family documents. By using our service, you agree to these terms.

2. Your Account

To use Attic Archive, you must create an account with accurate information. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activities that occur under it.

3. Uploading Documents

When you upload documents to Attic Archive, you confirm that:

  • You have the right to share the documents (you own them or have permission from the owner)
  • The documents do not infringe anyone else's copyright, privacy, or other rights
  • The documents do not contain illegal content
  • Any personal information of living individuals has been shared with their consent

4. Licence to Use Your Content

By uploading documents, you grant Attic Archive a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to store, process, display, and share your documents as part of the service. This includes using AI to transcribe documents and making published documents available to other users.

You retain ownership of your original documents. You can request removal of your documents at any time.

5. Published Documents

When you choose to publish a document to the public archive, it becomes visible to all users and may be indexed by search engines. Please consider carefully before publishing documents containing sensitive personal information.

6. AI Transcription

We use artificial intelligence to transcribe documents. While we strive for accuracy, AI transcriptions may contain errors. We provide transcriptions on an "as is" basis and do not guarantee their accuracy. Users are encouraged to verify important information from original sources.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Upload content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, or otherwise objectionable
  • Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service or other users' accounts
  • Use the service for commercial purposes without permission
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service

8. Intellectual Property

The Attic Archive service, including its design, features, and content (excluding user-uploaded documents), is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our service without permission.

9. Disclaimer

Attic Archive is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. We are not responsible for the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any documents or transcriptions in the archive.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Attic Archive shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or through the service. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time through your account settings.
